Cocktails in the sky: Santa Monica at SkyLounge

London boasts an impressive array of rooftop bars. From top-floor gardens to City skyscrapers and open-air bars, with the British summertime in full swing, why not enjoy a relaxing evening in the sky.

Having opened on 1st June 2016, Santa Monica at SkyLounge brings a taste of laid back California living to the table, in the midst of some of the capital’s most striking views. Located on the 12th level of the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel moments from Tower Hill, the summertime pop-up aims to give visitors the relaxed feeling of lying on a Californian beach, with a cocktail in hand and a menu boasting a selection of Californian-inspired treats.

The pop-up offers an excellent choice of drinks, most notably found in its imaginative cocktail list which transports visitors as close as they can get to the beach within the city walls, so why not make the most of your summer and get involved? The Santa Monica Sunset Martini, the venues signature cocktail, is the perfect choice for any city champagne lover with its special twist: cotton candy. Still not convinced? Then how about sipping on a frozen margarita whilst taking in the views of the surrounding cityscape.

The food menu features an assortment of bar snacks. For those of a savoury palate, dishes range from octopus skewers and smoked chicken quesadillas, to a California style burger with bang bang shrimp. It is safe to say that this rooftop bar offers a unique range of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes to satisfy any Californian craving. When it comes to the more sweet-toothed among us, the churros with salted caramel sauce or the profiterole fugato with hot chocolate sauce are certain to go down a treat.
