5 of the best London hotels opening in 2017

2017 is firmly here and there is a real sense of excitement and anxiousness as to what the year has in store for us after a rather tumultuous 2016.

Some might already be groaning and moaning that the new year is overrated with the pretty miserable weather and a chaos causing tube strike only 9 days into the start of the year. Let’s remain positive especially as we know there is so much good planned like all these wonderful and exciting new hotel openings in the capital.

The Ned
London-based Soho House & Co and New York’s Sydell Group have joined forces to create The Ned: a hotel, club and collection of restaurants in the City of London.

Set in the iconic former Midland Bank building, The Ned was designed by Sir Edwin ‘Ned’ Lutyens in 1924. The heritage building will open in early 2017, hosting nine restaurants, 252 bedrooms channeling 1920’s and 1930’s design, a range of men’s and women’s grooming services (Cowshed, Cheeky and Neville) and ‘Ned’s Club’, where members have access to a rooftop pool, gym, spa, hamam and late night lounge bar.

For groups and events, there will be six private hire rooms and two terraces which will be among the building’s most elegant spaces. Opening early 2017 this is one of the most anticipated new additions to the city of London.

10 Trinity Square
‘Ten Trinity Square is one of London’s true landmark buildings, re-created as an exclusive and harmonious arrangement of residences, hotel and club in a vision that links, explores and expresses the cultures and achievements of peoples all around the world.’ – Dr Chanchai Ruayrungruang Chairman, Reignwood Group.

Just across the road from the Tower of London, the Grade II listed building opened in 1922 as the HQ of the Port of London Authority. Having taken seven years to build this impressive building; it has taken Four Seasons the same amount of time to restore the beauty and transform it into a 5-star hotel.

The hotel will offer 89 rooms and 11 suites as well as 41 private residences, two new restaurants one of which will be the three-Michelin starred restaurant La Dame de Pic and a private members club. For events, there are two ballrooms and three function rooms across 730sqm of meeting space. The UN Ballroom will be the most impressive meeting point in the hotel as it was the original setting for the inaugural reception of the United Nations General Assembly in 1946.

Ten Trinity Square is due to open later this month but already it is in high demand and will have a very bright future.

Nobu Shoreditch
Best known for his eponymous chain of restaurants, chef Nobu Matsuhisa is due to open his first European hotel in London. Nobu Hotel Shoreditch is due to open in Spring 2017 and is highly anticipated by many!

As with all Nobu hotels, the design reflects the city of origin as well as Nobu Hospitality’s signature east-meets-west philosophy, drawing on the vibrant cultural and industrial context of Shoreditch.

The property features angular, fair-faced concrete balconies and its façade is made of printed, layered glass that is highly reflective, so as to allow light in while ensuring privacy. The five-story hotel includes its own landscaped garden at the site’s eastern edge, staggered with terraces and featuring seating overlooking the generous lower triple height restaurant and bar space.

The hotel will feature 143 rooms, 7 suites, meeting space across 180sqm which can be divided into 6 separate rooms. The highlight will undoubtedly be the culinary experience created by Nobu himself and available in the restaurant, lobby bar, meeting rooms and the 24-hour room service.

London is already home to two of Nobu’s restaurants and we can’t wait to welcome the hotel.

The new 80-cover restaurant will be situated across the ground and first floors of the hotel. The Dabbous restaurant will feature a simple and seasonal, ingredient-led menu with a French influence. Henrietta Hotel will also feature a 60-cover basement cocktail bar plus a 60-cover private members’ club.
